Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that it is the PM’s aspiration that everyone who wears a ‘Hawai Chappal’ must also travel in a ‘Hawai jahaaj’!
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the government has ensured that airports are not only a medium of travel, but airports become a centre of growth. Airports become a centre of employment for the whole country, The one change that has taken place in the last 9.5 years under PM’s leadership in this sector, he has democratized civil aviation for every single citizen of this country. Everyone who wears a ‘Hawai Chappal’ must also travel in a ‘Hawai jahaaj’ that is the PM’s aspiration for the people of our country,” Scindia said while addressing a public rally in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday.
At the airport, inauguration of the newly expanded terminal “marks a pivotal moment”, said the Ministry of Civil Aviation. These developments, coupled with connectivity projects, promise a substantial uplift to the economic landscape of the region, paving the way for growth and opportunity, the ministry added.
Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that Trichy Airport is a green airport.
“I commit that by 2025, out of 149 airports, 121 will be green & renewable energy based airports in India,” said the Civil Aviation Minister.
Cost of the project
The New Terminal Building of Tiruchirappalli Airport is constructed at a cost of Rs 1112 crores and developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The building can handle 44.5 lakh passengers annually by 2032-33!
