YS Sharmila, founder and president of YSR Telangana Party and sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, is likely to join the Congress this week.
This development comes shortly after the Congress swept the Assembly polls in Telangana, ending the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) dominance in the state.

YS Sharmila had reiterated her support for the Congress party days before the assembly elections in Telangana were held. She had also refused to contest the November 30 polls to prevent a split of votes that could have benefited former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
“I am extending support to the Congress party because the Congress party stands the chance of winning in the Telangana Assembly elections,” she had said.
