EAM S Jaishankar signs copies of his new book ‘Why Bharat Matters’

Amid the buzz over his new book ‘Why Bharat Matters’, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar signed some of the copies of his book. In a video posted on X, Jaishankar smiled as he signed copies of his book. While sharing the video on X, he wrote, “Contributing to a national conversation on foreign policy. Signed some copies of #WhyBharatMatters.” Speaking on his book ‘Why Bharat Matters’ which talks of India’s quest to ascend the global hierarchy and New India drawing strength from the country’s civilizational heritage, EAM Jaishankar said that he has attempted to take a particular theme and give it “Ramayan-type” relevance. No talks with OMCs on fuel price cut, says Union Minister Puri

Google, Meta and Tiktok’s debts removed from Russian database

Fines imposed by Russian courts on Alphabet’s Google and YouTube, Meta, TikTok and Telegram appear to have been settled as the companies are no longer registered as debtors in the state bailiffs’ database. But the database, accessed by Reuters on Wednesday, still includes X (formerly Twitter) and Twitch, with fines totalling 51 million roubles ($560,730) and 23 million roubles ($252,879), respectively. Google, Meta, TikTok and Telegram did not immediately respond to requests for comment. State bailiffs could not immediately be reached. (Reuters)

SC stays HC direction asking HP Govt to shift IPS officer from post of DGP

The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the direction of the Himachal Pradesh High Court asking the state government to shift senior IPS officer Sanjay Kundu from the post of Director General of Police (DGP). A bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud granted liberty to Kundu to move the high court to seek recall of its December 26 order. (PTI)
