Darshana Jardosh, the Union Minister of State for Railways, recently inspected the Chenab Bridge and expressed her appreciation for the quality of work executed. She was accompanied by CAO/USBRL SP Mahi and ED/KRCL RK Hedge along with a team from Northern Railways and KRCL. During the inspection, SP Mahi briefed the minister about the project and explained the various features of the Chenab Bridge.

He also informed her that Indian Railways is nearing completion of the project, which will connect the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the railway network.

The team also informed the minister that the work of track linking on the Chenab Bridge, which is the world’s highest railway bridge, was completed on March 21, 2023.

This was a major milestone achieved after successfully completing the arch closure on April 5, 2021 and the golden joint on August 16, 2022.

The completion of this project will be a major achievement for Indian Railways and will provide a much-needed boost to the transportation infrastructure in the region, she said.
